Cracks in your pool
Have you noticed cracks appearing – small or large, a crack can be a sign that your pool is leaking or is about to start. Unfortunately, ground movement does occur and this can lead to visible cracks. In most circumstances hairline cracks are nothing to worry about, they are inevitable as the surrounding ground will experience fluctuations in moisture which leads to swelling or shrinking. However, if there haven’t been recent changes in the weather it could be a sign that there is a leak somewhere and the surrounding ground is being affected by the increase in water. Large, deep cracks in a concrete or tiled pool and more obvious signs as you have probably noticed the pool water lowering.
Falling Tiles
Falling or cracked tiles are also another key indicator as one again this could indicate that your pool shell has been damaged or that a pipe has broken causing ground changes.
Liner Issues
If water is collecting behind your liner this could indicate a leak from one of your pool pipes or fixings. You may see a visible tear or the liner has been pulled or torn away from the liner lock. This will allow water to get behind the liner and begin to permeate the shell.
Water Patches
Wet patches are appearing in your plant room or garden, these are very obvious signs and if you notice this please contact a pool company to get the matter resolved before it causes further damage, especially if the wet patch is appearing near a structure.
Increased water usage
The most common sign is you are needing to increase your top-ups more regularly, during warmer weather and increased usage you would expect to top up your pool more frequently. Keep an eye on automatic top-ups if you suspect a leak due to an increased bill.
